Kaua`i Cat Haven
"Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall they be saved."
- Jane Goodall
The Kaua`i Cat Haven is our most recent project. As funding and time have allowed, we have put in a water line, driveway, three pavilions, and prepared the land for development. Our pavilions are currently enclosed to keep cats in, but once we are able to fund the fencing and personnel for a 200'x200' enclosure, the pavilions will be opened and we will have the capacity to house hundreds of cats, both feral and domestic, with an emphasis on relocating cats from sensitive native bird nesting areas.
Our founder and Executive Director has 23+ years as a teacher in the public, private, home, and charter school sectors. Our vision includes an educational component that will invite students and educators to the sanctuary to learn about the importance of protecting our native bird nesting areas, the humane treatment of feral cats, and the vital role younger generations play in the future of the island's delicate ecosystems.
It is our hope to create a space that brings the currently divided Kaua`i together in a collective effort to save both birds and cats while continuing to rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for our dogs. We are currently seeking funding to complete the Kaua`i Cat Haven. Please contact us via our email for more information on this project: kauaianimalwelfaresociety@gmail.com
